In the small village of Gołotczyzna in northern Mazovia, Aleksander Świętochowski, one of the leading figures of Polish positivism, lived and worked for many years. Today his house and the neighbouring manor house of Aleksandra Bąkowska form the Museum of Positivism, surrounded by an extensive park. In the manor house, we discover the everyday life of the moderately wealthy gentry at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, while the farm buildings display old agricultural machinery and tools. We have created a mobile app and an audio guide system that lead visitors through the museum and introduce the figures of Świętochowski and Bąkowska, as well as the idea of “organic work” (praca u podstaw).
