Olsztyn k. Częstochowy

There is Olsztyn – the capital of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship with nearly 200,000 inhabitants, and there is Olsztyn – near Częstochowa, a small village with an urban, albeit distant, past. The latter Olsztyn attracts thousands of tourists every year, drawn by the impressive ruins of a royal castle, one of the so-called "Eagle Nests". It's definitely worth a visit, especially with an audio guide! You can rent the audio guide at the Tourist Information Point located in the very center of the village. Once you put on the headphones, you're transported back in time to when Olsztyn was a royal seat. On the way to the castle, you’ll hear fascinating stories and discover the village’s modern attractions, including Jan Wiewiór’s moving nativity scene. The castle itself—or rather its ruins—leaves a powerful impression. It clearly dominates over Olsztyn, as if it still ruled over it. The audio guide tells the castle’s story, including the dark tale of Maciej Borkowic's death by starvation. This is something you have to hear!In Olsztyn, there's also an audio guide version for kids, and you can even take a walk with headphones on to the nearby Birów Hill, where a defensive wooden stronghold stands.
