Few people know that the dazzling global career of crude oil began not in the United States, not in Russia, and certainly not in one of the Persian Gulf countries, but in Poland. The breakthrough came in the mid-19th century, when Ignacy Łukasiewicz, a scientist from Galicia, invented the kerosene lamp and soon afterwards launched the first oil mines and a refinery. History took off at a gallop! We learn about these events while walking with the audio guide around the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Museum of the Oil and Gas Industry in Bóbrka near Rzeszów. However, the audio guide introduces us not only to the earliest past of the oil industry but also to its dynamic development in the 20th century. During the tour we will encounter remarkable figures, stories straight out of a novel and machines found nowhere else.
