Puńsk in the Suwałki region is the heart of Lithuanian culture in Poland – most of its inhabitants are Lithuanians. Not far from the centre, on the road to Sejny, stands the Zagroda Litewska (Lithuanian Homestead), a mini open-air museum run by the Lithuanian Culture House (Dom Kultury Litewskiej). It is made up of buildings moved from a nearby village: a dwelling house, granaries, a cowshed and a barn, as well as a traditional fence and a sweep well. The audio guide takes you on a journey to a Lithuanian village at the turn of the 20th century. It tells of everyday life, farm work, spinning and weaving, and the customs that are still alive in Puńsk.
