Młyny Rothera (Rother’s Mills) is a 19th-century mill complex on Wyspa Młyńska (Mill Island) in Bydgoszcz, named after the Prussian minister Christian von Rother. Two floors of the former granary house the permanent exhibition ‘Węzły. Opowieść o mieście nad Brdą’ (Nodes. A Story of the City on the Brda), whose title refers to the Bydgoszcz Water Junction – the Brda, the Bydgoszcz Canal and the Vistula – but also to the intertwined lives of the city’s residents. We created a mobile app for Android and iOS phones and an audio guide system with 50 devices. The recordings take visitors through the last 170 years of Bydgoszcz’s history and ask how the city’s water resources can be protected from the climate crisis. The audio guide also includes audio description for blind and partially sighted visitors.
