The Dom Carla i Gerharta Hauptmannów (Carl and Gerhart Hauptmann House) in Szklarska Poręba is a branch of the Muzeum Karkonoskie (Karkonosze Museum) in Jelenia Góra. At the end of the 19th century it became the home of the Hauptmann brothers – the writer Carl and Gerhart, winner of the 1912 Nobel Prize in Literature, who wrote, among other works, the play ‘The Weavers’ during this period. We created a mobile app for Android and iOS phones and an audio guide system with recordings for the permanent exhibition. The audio guide leads visitors through the exhibitions ‘In the Kingdom of the Mountain Spirit’, ‘The Karkonosze Mountain Hut’ and ‘Carl and Gerhart Hauptmann’, as well as the Wlastimil Hofman Gallery. The recordings are available in Polish, English, German and Czech, and in a version with audio description for blind and partially sighted visitors.
