The Muzeum Pienińskie im. Józefa Szalaya (Józef Szalay Pieniny Museum) in Szlachtowa presents the culture of the Pieniny highlanders and the history of the region – from rafting on the Dunajec and the story of the Szczawnica spa to the castles and churches of the area. Since 2014 the exhibition has been housed in a former border guard building. Szlachtowa was once the westernmost Lemko village and the centre of the so-called Szlachtowa Ruthenia. We created a mobile app for Android and iOS phones that works as an audio guide to the museum. The recordings lead visitors through the exhibition and allow them to explore it independently, at their own pace. The audio guide is available in Polish, English and Slovak, as well as in Polish Sign Language.
