Krzeszów lies in Lower Silesia, right by the border with the Czech Republic. In the Middle Ages, one of the Piast dukes chose this charming spot, surrounded by the hills of the Sudetes, as the seat of a Cistercian abbey and a ducal necropolis. Over time, the monks erected magnificent churches and monastery buildings. We begin the audio-guided tour at the monumental Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Inside the church we learn about the history of the abbey while admiring the magnificent Rococo sculptures, stuccowork and paintings.Later we look into, among other places, the mausoleum of the Piasts of Świdnica-Jawor, the churchyard cemetery and the auxiliary Church of St Joseph.
