PGE Giganty Mocy

Bełchatów

PGE Giganty Mocy (Giants of Power)? The name sounds like Ninjago or Nexo Knights. In reality, it is an interactive museum in Bełchatów that gives children and adults alike a gigantic dose of fun – and of knowledge, too. The audio guide available at the museum helps you make the very most of your visit!Bełchatów near Łódź is famous for volleyball, its lignite mine and its power plant. We will leave volleyball aside here – that is not our department. The mine and the power plant, however, are the giants of power that the museum has made its heroes.Right at the start of the audio-guided tour, we set off on a fascinating journey through time, going all the way back to the beginnings of… the universe. Then we travel through distant eras of the Earth's history, diving into ancient seas and making our way through tropical forests, among other things. All this to find out how lignite was formed – the coal that is mined today at the Bełchatów mine. Once we step out of the time machine, we enter the mine straight away – the largest hole in the ground in Europe, visible even from Earth's orbit. It is an opportunity to take a closer look at the mighty machines and, along the way, at the transformation of Bełchatów itself. Finally, at the very end, we visit the power plant, where you can learn how electricity is generated. It is worth pointing out that the exhibition has been enriched with numerous games and activities that are especially appealing to the youngest visitors. The audio guide is available in two versions: for adults and for families with children.
