The audio guide entitled “The Jagiellonian Trail of the Union of Lublin” is an excellent introduction to the story – extraordinary in every respect – of the voluntary union of two states, Poland and Lithuania, into a single Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It took place in Lublin 450 years ago, in 1569, yet many reminders of that momentous event have survived in the city. The audio guide begins its tale next to Lublin Castle, where the deputies, together with the king and dignitaries, deliberated on concluding the union. Soon we head to the Old Town Hill to visit the churches connected with this political act. The story reaches its finale on Lithuanian Square, in front of the Union of Lublin Monument. The audio guide is available at the Lublin Tourist and Cultural Information Centre on Jezuicka Street in Lublin.
