People visit Masuria in summer to enjoy sailing on its countless lakes or kayaking down its clear rivers. Masurian towns and villages are then visited only to stock up on supplies or drop into a pub for a beer. Fortunately, the number of tourists who want to learn about the history of this land keeps growing. It is they, first and foremost, who should reach for the audio guide presenting the attractions of Ełk.With this audio guide you cannot get lost – it starts near Ełk's railway station and leads straight along Armii Krajowej Street to the shore of the picturesque Lake Ełk. Meanwhile, the audio guide tells the long history of the town, from a settlement of the Old Prussians, through a town of the Teutonic Knights, to the arrival of the Poles. During the walk, the names of Gizewiusz, Małecki, Kajka and Lenz come up; we take a close look at 19th-century buildings: the church, schools, the post office and Art Nouveau tenement houses. At the end, we hear an invitation to take a ride on the "ciuchcia" – the little train.
